Airmail, bringing lightness to everyday objects.

Parallel projects initiated a new exhibition in collaboration with GOOOD gallery. With as theme ‘lightness’ the y asked a selected group of designers to give their interpretation to this subject.

My interpretation is expressed using my ‘Flexible ceramics’ technique resulting in a ceramic net structure.

To define lightness we need gravity. Therefor Gravity is part of the process, causing its own qualities, using weight to create a lightweight object that captures the process of its making. A ceramic net to hang, that shows the weight that created its shape.

The function of the final object is its visual qualities. Physical function is subordinate to the intriguing effect the shape combined with the material expresses. Call it jewellery for space.
